Nashville, RI Festival Aug 4th

May 1, 2019

Country music comes to Mulligan's Island this summer with the first ever Nashville, RI Music Festival. National recording artists The Mallet Bros. Band will headline the show with featured acts the RI Rednecks and Bobby Bluegrass. Special Guests Gary and Linda will open up the show at 12noon.

The Mallett Brothers Band is an independent rock and roll / Americana / country band from Maine. Their busy tour schedule since forming in 2009 has helped them to build a dedicated fanbase across the U.S. and beyond while still calling the state of Maine their home. With a style that ranges from alt-country to Americana, country, jam and roots rock, theirs is a musical melting pot that's influenced equally by the singer/songwriter tradition as by harder rock, classic country and psychedelic sounds.

Texas Hill Country Explore Magazine calls them “New England’s wildly eclectic crew of genre rebels.” Bill Copeland Music News says “Combining their authentic roots rock sound with a reflective lyrical style that perceives stories on the level of epic myth, it’s like William Faulkner has been resurrected with an electric guitar in hand.."

Cousin Bobby is a tight knit collection of high caliber bluegrass players. A rowdy band of hooligans ready to melt your face with harmonies, licks, and old-time music played like a freight train crashing through your living room. Formed in the smoldering ashes of local folk rockers The Lonesome Draw, this rosé-drenched collective of hardened pickers come prepared to make sure you go home satisfied. We’ll be playing the bluegrass music at our next family reunion.

The RI Rednecks are three time Country Music Association of Rhode Island Band of the Year award winners. CMA of RI Hall of Famers Paul "Tonto" Pronteau (Rhythm Guitar) and Ollie Stedman (Bass). Playing in country music bands since the 70's, Tonto has been working on the Rednecks since 2008 and this current line-up has been playing gigs to passionate fans all over southern New England.
