A RHODE ISLAND
SPORTS TRADITION RETURNS
Media Day announcement on May 14th
Warwick,
RI –
Ready for more?
In
2006, the Mini Rhode Island Open – the
first professional miniature golf tournament ever held in the state – made a
successful debut. Now,
the event is back on the calendar, bigger and better than the inaugural event,
thanks to an exciting partnership! The official tournament announcement
will take place on Monday, May 14th at Mulligan’s Island in Cranston, RI.
The
Mini Rhode Island Open is once again sanctioned
by the US Pro MiniGolf
Association, and will receive a large boost from the business community
with the addition of Phred’s Drug of Cranston as presenting sponsor. As a result of this
partnership, the Mini RI Open and the 3rd annual Phred’s
Drug Mini Golf Charity Classic will combine their separate events, to become a single,
two-day extravaganza. Complete
tournament details, including an amateur event for all ages and abilities, will
be announced at the Media Day, beginning at 12 Noon. Proceeds
from the tournament will benefit the Wish children of A Wish Come True, Rhode Island’s oldest
wish granting organization.
All
members of the media are invited to attend – and play a round of mini golf on
the course to be used by the professionals of the USPMGA. A light lunch will also be
served. Representatives
from Mulligan’s Island, A Wish Come True and Phred’s Drug will be in
attendance.
